Top Ten Songs That Give Me The Feels

Top Ten Songs That Give Me The Feels

I appreciate all forms of art. Every artistic medium is a way an artist expresses their emotions while having the ability to evoke different feelings from each of their audience members. That is what is so fascinating about art, it can move each of us in different ways. Being so powerful, music is definitely a form of art and has always been a big part of my life. There are just some songs that really give me the feels. All of us have those songs that touch our hearts in a way that no other song can. These ten songs stir up really strong emotions within me that I may even shed a tear or two when I listen to them.

“Unforgettable” - Nat King Cole

My father always loved singing with me since I was a kid. I have very fond memories of car karaoke with him. This was one of his favorite songs to sing with me. This song makes me think of so many unforgettable moments with him.

“When I fall in love” - Nat King Cole

This is another Nat King Cole classic that makes me think of my father and our singing sessions. We all want to find true love, a love that lasts forever. My heart seriously beats faster when I hear this song.

“Can’t help falling in love” - Elvis Presley

Another oldie but goodie and a song that tugs on my little heart strings. Maybe I'm a hopeless romantic but I sincerely believe that some things are just meant-to-be. I believe in falling so deeply in love with hopes that someone will feel this way for me too.

“I don’t want to miss a thing” - Aerosmith

I love Steven Tyler's voice and the idea of loving someone so immensely that you wouldn't want to miss any moment with them. I'm not sure if I would deprive myself of sleep (lol), but when you love someone, you just want to be close to them and experience so much with that person.

“If I ever fall in love” - Boyz II Men

Originally Shai sang this song, but I love Boyz II Men and the harmony between their voices. This song makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

“Lay me down” - Sam Smith

Sam Smith has an amazing voice and this song gives me goosebumps. I like the first part of this song because it's slower and more meaningful. When my mom was really sick, this song had just come out and it was so fitting. Before we lost her, all I wanted to do was be close to her and lay next to her. We actually played this song at her wake and til' this day, I cry every time I hear it.

“You’re all I need” - Method Man ft. Mary J. Blige and Notorious B.I.G.

This song will forever be one of my favorites. It reminds me of high school and makes me think of that “ride or die” kind of romance. It's a relationship where you're best friends and lovers who support one another through thick and thin, all the ups and downs, enjoying all the good moments and always there for all the tough ones. It's the ideal partnership where 'we can face anything as long as we have each other'.

“Hold you in my arms” - Ray Lamontagne

This man's voice is perfectly raspy and sultry. That alone makes me fall in love with him and this song. But when you listen to the lyrics, it makes you think of warmth and safety, that feeling you get when you're in the arms of your love. Feeling protected in the arms of the person you care about is one of the most incredible feelings that you just want to feel that way forever.

“Flightless bird, American mouth” - Iron & Wine

Honestly, the words really don't make sense to me but the song still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. When I hear this song, I think of young love and how it's so innocent and sweet. It has such a romantic feel to it and gives me a slight sense of nostalgia.

“Love” - Music Soulchild

Musiqmeme.jpg

While most of his music makes me feel good, this one particular song really makes me feel excited and blessed. Musiq speaks to love as though it is an individual. He speaks of love as an omnipotent entity and someone to be cherished. Truly trusting the power of love, this song inspires me and gives me hope. Fun fact: Musiq Soulchild originally wrote this song about God, but changed it to "Love" because he didn't want to come off as a gospel singer. It makes sense and it worked out perfectly.

I realize most of these are love songs. Maybe I'm just a big ol' mush but love is essential and supposed to make you feel inspired and amazing. I sincerely believe love is the most important concept in life, not just romantically, but love in all its forms matters so much. I have always said, “I don't know the meaning of life but I would like to think it's to love and be loved in return.” And some songs do that to you too, they make you feel loved even if just for that moment.

Tell me what songs give you the feels. I’m curious to know. Comment Below.
